Youth Dance Guidelines & Standards
Dancing can be a fun and wonderful opportunity to meet new people and enjoy being together. Please adhere to LDS standard of conduct as set for in the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet. We hope you enjoy your time at the dance!
Guest are welcome if they observe dance rules of conduct, dress standards and are with a member of the church. Youth are responsible to inform their guests of the dance standards.
Youth must be 14 years of age.
Dance styles and music should contribute to an atmosphere where the Spirit of the Lord may be present.
Non compliance with the dance standards is grounds for the youth to be sent home. Parents will be notified.
Dance Dress Standards for Young Women
Church Dress for Young Women
Dresses and skirts that are knee length or longer regardless of whether leggings are worn.
Casual Dress for Young Women
Khakis, nice jeans, or capris that go below the knees or modest dresses or skirts that are knee length or longer.
Leggings may not be worn as pants.
Not Appropriate for Young Women
Tank Tops, halter tops or clothing with holes or frays.
Tight fitting outfits
Skirts with slits higher than the knees.
Low-cut necklines, sleeveless, backless, or strapless tops, bare midriffs, or spaghetti straps.
Dance Dress Standards for Young Men
Church Dress for Young Men
Dress pants and dress shirt with tie
Casual Dress for Young Men
Nice pants, khakis, or nice jeans with collared shirts or sweaters.
Not Appropriate for Young Men
Shorts, T-shirts, tank tops, or clothing with holes or frays.
Make-up, earrings, ear gauges, or shoes with out socks.
Pant worn below hips or clothing that is tight or revealing.
